This state park is situated on land that used to be an old mill city in the 1800's. The mills kept burning down. There are plenty of ruins of the old buildings to explore here. We visited on a damp, rainy day. A small part near the pond crosses into Bolton. On another ocassion we returned to the park, hiking in via a connecting trail from Blackledge Falls in Glastonbury.

This state forest is situated in the towns of Glastonbury and Hebron. It sits in between the official border of Gay City State Park and Blackledge Falls. We hiked through here on our way to Gay City from Blackledge Falls. The open area below is a power line crossing.

This is a nice nature preserve. The trail was more of a dirt road than a trail, but it made for a very pleasant walk. It had rained hard earlier in the day, but the crushed rock surface of the trail kept it mostly dry. The most amazing part of the trail, was that there were no bugs. Seeing how I forgot to bring my bug spray, this was a very pleasant surprise. The bridge over the brook looked brand new.
