The prominent feature of this portion of the Air-Line Trail is the old Lyman Viaduct. Back in the late 1800's, this was steel a railroad trestle. It was later filled in with sand and gravel to make it safer and the trail runs across it. You can read more about it here. There's no evidence of the old trestle that I can see, and it really wasn't all that scenic. We also checked out a side trail that led to a Christmas Tree farm and pond where I don't think we were supposed to be. We continued on into East Hampton, and walked a total of 2.3 miles before turning around and heading back.
Over a year later, we checked out the Colchester Spur. This spur starts near the center of Colchester and runs north, passing into Hebron, before ending at the main Air Line Trail. We didn't have time to walk the entire spur, as sunset is real early this time of year. We still walked 4.6 miles total (out and back). I've got to say, this was a pretty boring section of trail, especially this time of year. It is not very scenic at all.

There is a connecting trail featuring a wooden staircase that connects the Air Line Trail Colchester Spur to the dog park. It was getting late so we only stopped and took pictures outside the dog park on this day. We still had over a mile to go to get back to the car. We did visit this dog park pre-Covid, back in 2018. It's a nice grass dog park. You can expand the "More Images" link below to see a couple action shots from that visit.
