The Southwick Rail Trail is a mult-use multi-town path along the site of the old canal and railway that ran from New Haven, CT to Northampton, MA. The Southwick section continues from the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail in Suffield and becomes the Columbia Greenway when it enters Westfield. We finished up the Southwick section six months after we left off. After the remnants of Tropical Storm Elsa came through, I decided to stick to paved walking trails while everything else dries out. That gave us a nice opportunity to finish the section of the Greenway that runs continuos from Plainville to Westfield. We actually had to back track and redo about 1.4 miles of trail because of the lack of parking areas for the trail in Southwick. There is only one, way on the south end. The highlight in Southwick is the painted tunnel under Point Grove Road.
