This nature preserve features a hike that went straight up-hill for a mile, leading to the Mary Moore Lookout. The first part of the trail ran along side an empty field that was protected by an electric fence. I have no idea what they are protecting with the fence. It just looked like a field to me. At one point the trail turns sharp left and runs along side the edge of what looks like someone's yard, before continuing on the other side of the field. The trail finally enters the woods, where we made our way to the lookout at the top. There are some nice views here, both on the way up and at the top. This was our second stop of the day, and unfortunately I lost my bag of dog treats at the first stop and didn't realize it until I got here. It is hard to get the dogs to pose without treats, so it's amazing the pictures came out as good as they did!

After not havig much luck at "Housatonic Meadows State Park" (see below), I decided to pick up the Applachian Trail in Sharon. We didn't get very far. As you can see, we encounterd a stream crossing made of logs and branches, and I couldn't get the dogs to go over it on their own. They were like..."No! That's not a bridge!" It was getting late, and we didn't have a lot of time anyway, so we turned around at that point and went back to the car. Had I had more time and energy, I would have tried harder, or let them go through the stream.

This sounded like a typical Connecticut State Park, but I never found a main entrance to it. There was a camping area, that was protected by a closed gate, and some small pull-offs on the side of the road. We parked at one of those pull-offs and walked the trail to the river shore. I think this spot is primarily used for fishing. There was a cool stone wall, but otherwise this area was unremarkable.
