Nahant Beach Reservation

Date visited: 11/30/2023

We walked the entire length of the walkway that connects Nahant Beach Reservation to Lynn Shore Reservation and the Olmsted Historic District in Swampscott. The entire walkway is about three miles total, so it was over a six mile walk for us in both directions. We parked at the parking lot near the rotary right on the Lynn and Nahant border. We first headed south on the walkway along side Nahant Beach. The beach is on the east side of the long peninsula that makes up the town of Nahant, the smallest municipality in Massachusetts. Once we reached the end of the walkway, near the Tides restaurant, we headed back, but this time walked along the beach. The waves are mild here, definitely not a great place for surfing. There was an army of seagulls all lined up toward the north end of the beach. They were not too concerned about people walking by with their dogs. Speaking of dogs, they are allowed on the walkway year round, but not allowed on the beach. from April 1st through September 15th. There was plenty of parking the day we were here, but during the summer months (up to the end of October), the free street parking on Lynn Shrore drive fills up quicky, and parking at the beach is costly...$40 for non-Massachusetts residents. After completing the beach walk, we headed north on the walkway to Lynn Shore Reservation.
