This is another historical site located on the banks of the Hudson River. This is very similar to the Olana Historical Site located 20 minutes up the road, and the Vanderbilt Mansion located 45 minutes south of here. It's not quite as nice as either of them. Normally, there are tours of the inside of the mansion (Dogs not allowed of course), but the building was closed for renovations the day we visited. The front of the building that faces the river was also fenced off. We had to get a little creative while taking a couple of the pictures. We walked about 3 1/2 miles around the property, visiting the other buildings and gardens on the property. There are plenty of informational signs along the way that describe the significance of each place. There are also plenty of spots that offer scenic views of the Catskills on the other side of the river. It was another incredibly mild February day, with tempertaures that made it up to the low 60's. According to the weather forecast, this was the end of the spring-like temperatures for a while, so this was a great way to spend the last really nice afternoon for a while.
