We visited this place a couple years back, but on this visit we hiked the loop trail. It's a pretty cool place, with the farm animals at the beginning, and some nice trails on a lot of land. Lexi doesn't like the farm animals all that much. It was difficult to get the dogs to look at me and not the farm animals when I was taking their picture.

This was a hot day! We did this short paved loop trail in Windsor Center near the Farmington River. We came back a second time, a year and a half later. It was much cooler, and a portion of the trail that led out to the river was flooded.

This is a small state park with a paved walking trail that connects to the Captain John Bissell Trail which goes over the Bissell Bridge on I-291 to South Windsor. There are plans to connect this trail to Riverside Park in Hartford. It's not a great trail. Right now, it just kind of dead ends. We did see some deer near the bridge but they were moving too fast to get their picture. We stopped here to get our walk in after I picked up the dogs from the groomer in Windsor. What I remember most about this trip, was my phone lighting up with alerts about what was happening at the US Capital.

This paved bike path starts at Windsor Meadows State Park, and heads over the Connecticut River on the Bissell Bridge along side I-291. Our dog groomer is right down the road from here. We stopped so the dogs could stretch their legs a bit after picking them up from the groomer.

Due to some medical issues for both me and Mandy, we wound up taking a week off from our adventures. While Mandy was back to 100%, I was still not doing that great. I was saving this trail for the fall, after work, because it is short and nearby. But since it was such a beautiful day, I wanted to get out and back on the trails, so I thought this would be a good one being it was short and flat. The problem is that it's just not a good trail. It was terribly overgrown, and difficult to manage in places. This is definitely not what I had in mind! We got through it, but it wasn't a great experience.

This is a very small park. I thought the walking trail would be longer, it was less than half a mile. The pond with the bridge was nice, and there's a playground for the kids, as well as a picnic area, but there wasn't much for us to do here. It looks like there used to be a trail in the back of the park, but it is now overgrown and flooded, so we did not attempt it.

This is a another small park situated right on the banks of the Farmington River. The park is known as "River Street Park" on the town's website, but the sign here says "Strawberry Hills". There is a small picnic area, and a short paved walking trail here. It is also a spot that you can launch your canoe or kayak on the river. We stopped here on our way home from the dog groomer so they could get out and stretch. It was a quick visit since it was cold and getting dark. we'll have to return when the weather is better and explore some more.
