Lake Winfield Recreation Area

Date visited: 10/24/2021

I didn't plan to stop here. I was on my way to some place else, and saw this area on the GPS, and decided to check it out. This is a really nice spot. There's a stone dust trail that runs for about 0.85 miles, that circles Lake Winfield. The weather was great, and the fall colors were truly popping.

Eli Terry Jr. Water Wheel

Date visited: 4/10/2021

The wheel is located in the Terryville section of Plymouth. According to Wikipedia, this is one of three remaining 19th century water wheels remaining in the state. I never put two and two together, evidently Terryville is named after Eli Terry Jr.

This is a recreation area near Hancock Brook Lake, in the south eastern corner of Playmouth near the Waterbury border. The Army Corps of Engineers built the dam here. There is a trail on the side of the lake.
