There are a series of trails that start behind the Humane Society in Newington. On the far end of the trail, is an overlook with a great view of Newington.

CTfastrak Multi-Use Trail

Somehow I didn't realize that the CTfastrak included a bike trail. For those that many not know, CTfastrak is a dedicated bus road from New Britain to Hartford. I learned that a 4.4 mile multi-use paved trail was built at the same time. It runs alongside the bus path from New Britain to Newington. We started at East Street Station on the town border with New Britain. The station sits at the exact half way point on the trail. We walked the entire Newington section, out and back. I have to say, this is a pretty boring walk. It's pretty much just flat and straight. There is not a lot of scenery. The busses went by a few times, but we were the only ones using the trail.
