Not to be confused, with "AW Stanley Park", "Stanley Quarter Park" is another town park located in New Britain. It features a paved walking trail around the pond that is just under a mile long. There are also other trails that go into the woods. Some of them cross the street, and I'm not sure if those trails are still considered part of the park or not. We explored some of them, hiking out to the ruins of an old building of some sort. I have no idea what the deal is with the lemons and limes in the last photo.... it was one of the more bizarre things we've encountered on our adventures.

Traffic was terrible on this day. We were returning home from a different trip, and Waze (GPS App) kept re-routing me. We eventually wound up passing this park in New Britain. I stopped to let the dogs out, and stretch my legs a bit. This park is mainly athletic fields, and a playground. There is a short paved walking trail that circles the fields.

Somehow I didn't realize that the CTfastrak included a bike trail. For those that many not know, CTfastrak is a dedicated bus road from New Britain to Hartford. I learned that a 4.4 mile multi-use paved trail was built at the same time. It runs alongside the bus path from New Britain to Newington. For our first visit, we started at East Street Station on the town border with New Britain. The station sits at the exact half way point on the trail. The pictures below are from the New Britain section of the trail, between the station and the Newington town line. We will return in the futre and walk the rest of the trail.

Despite being 70 degrees on Wednesday, we got a snow and ice storm on Friday. Trying to find a place to take the dogs the day after that storm was a challenge. This wasn't the right place. We were able to get out of the car and take some pictures near the monuments, but we weren't able to use the walking path. There are stairs that go down, that were covered in ice, and there was no way I was going to make it down! I didn't know this at the time, but evidently Lexi's ID tag fell off her collar while we were here. I got a random text from someone three weeks later saying they found it (my phone number was on it), with a picture of where they left it. The tag had rusted, but I figured I'd go back and grab it. I went the next day, but the tag wasn't where it was left. I looked around and couldn't find it. At least we got to explore more of the park. We were able to make it down the stairs this time!
