Welcome to summer! The high temp was 83 in Spring Lake, so we enjoyed a full-fledged beach day on the Jersey Shore... in March! We go to the beach year round, but there is something special about the beach on a hot summer-like day. Since this super warm day fell on a weekend, the beach was crowded, especially for March! Dogs are not allowed on the boardwalk at all, but are allowed on the beach from October 1st through May 14th, and there were a lot of dogs on the beach enjoying the warm weather. Both Mandy and Lexi cooled off in the ocean multiple times, and I got to wear shorts and sandals and walk through the edge of the waves. The only downside on the day, was it was a bit cloudy and hazy at times, so these weren't the best set of photos we've ever taken at the beach. We had actually been to Spring Lake twice before, and visited the Dog Beach at the north end of the borough's shoreline, and Pier Beach at the very south end. Today, we walked the rest of the beach, as well as revisiting the Dog Beach, and checking out Lake Como, walking just shy of five miles total. It was such a treat to have a warm summer day like this at the end of the March. I'm ready for more of them!

This is an off-leash "dog beach" on the northern most part of the shore line in the borough of Spring Lake. We arrived here via Belmar Beach. Dogs are allowed to be off-leash in this section, but despite being called "Dog Beach", they are only allowed here during certain times. From May 15th to September 30th, between sunrise and 9AM, but allowed anytime outside of those dates. There were five or six dogs running around and playing at the edge of the water. I let Mandy and Lexi off-leash for a bit, but they just kind of walked around and didn't really want to play all that much. I think they were nervous being off-leash in a new environment.

We came back to the dog beach while we were visiting the main beach in Spring Lake. This time we were here in the spring on an 83 degree day. It was a Saturday, so the beach was very busy. There were a lot of dogs. This makes Lexi a bit nervous, so she only had one short burst of the zoomies. Mandy just loves walking around and meeting the other dogs, and sitting in the edge of the water! Unfortunately, the clouds had covered the sun the entire time we were at the dog beach, so the pictures aren't the best, but the dogs had fun and that's what counts!

While we were on our Sea Girt Beach adventure, we crossed into the southern portion of Spring Lake Beach, labeled on the map as "Pier Beach". We walked a short way, before turning around and heading back into Sea Girt.
