The Trott-Perry Land Preserve, located in the "Hope" section of Scituate, is named after two doctor's that donated the land. It's also known as the "Hope Associates Inc, Nature Trail". It's a short loop trail, which reaches the Pawtuxet River on the far end of the loop. It was the hottest day of the year, so we didn't arrive until nearly 7pm so it would be a bit cooler. This is one of the few spots in Scituate I was able to find, as most of the wooded land is owned by the water company and not open to the public.

The Weather Channel App forecasted "partly cloudy" skies for the time we were here, which is why I decided to hike this trail. Unfortunately, they were incorrect. The trail itself is a short, unremarkable loop through the woods. While Rhode Island in general seems pretty dog-friendly, the town of Scituate is not. We've stopped at a couple of places that we couldn't visit because dogs weren't allowed. They have an outdoor art fair every year, and dogs aren't even allowed at that. Coupled with the lack of open woodlands because the water company owns most of the land, it's very hard to find anything to do with the dogs in this town. So the fact that leashed dogs are welcomed here, is a good thing, even if it is a very ordinary trail.

This was "Christmas in the Village, Festival Of Trees", a three date holiday event in North Scituate Village... at least it was supposed to be. The event took place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday the 13th, 14th and 15th. We were here on the Saturday afternoon....and there was nothing going on! We parked at the lot near the town green. There was one other car in the lot. There was a Christmas Tree display by the gazebo, similar to the one at the Cumberland Monastery, but on a much smaller scale. There are shops along West Grenville Road and Danielson Pike, but no special events that we could see. We actually wound up just walking along the streets, and up to the reservoir before calling it a day. Maybe there is more to this festival on Friday and Sunday, but you would think Saturday would be a busy day...but I guess not. Speaking of North Scituate Village, this is also the site of the annual Scituate Art Festival held every autumn. I know the art festival is a happening event, because I've been stuck in the traffic surrounding it before! I would love to visit that event, but dogs aren't allowed...despite it being an outdoor event. Actually, I've found Scituate to be the least dog-friendly town in Rhode Island, as they aren't allowed in most of the town parks either. Maybe the mayor of Scituate doesn't like dogs...who knows? At any rate, we got a few nice Christmas photos here, but it was kind of a disappointing trip.
