Redemption Rock was our starting point for what was supposed to be a quick one mile hike out to Wachusett Lake and back. We wound up walking a bit more than that, because the trails were confusing, and other than the Mid-state Trail, which made up part of the walk, the rest of the trails were not marked well. We did eventually make it to the lake, but took a route back that did not line up with the trails on the All-Trails app. As for the actual "Redemption Rock", it's right there by the parking lot. It's historic significance is that is the spot where Chief Metacomet (also known as "King Philip") returned Mary White Rowlandson, and other settlers who were held captive for several months. There's an inscription on the rock commemorating this event.

This ski area runs along the border of Princeton and Westminster. The pictures below are from the Princeton section, in the southeast part of the reservation, consisting mainly of our walk down the hill along "Balanced Rock Road", a gravel road that is closed off to traffic. We passed by a cool lodge, and a number of small waterfalls. I especially like the photo of Mandy and Lexi in the tube that was taken toward the end of the walk. Be sure to visit the Westminster page, for a write-up on that part of the adventure.
