Marshfield

Rexhame Beach

Date visited: 6/30/2023

Here we have a rarity! A beach in Massachusetts that allows dog year round! It's a pretty nice beach too! I did not know it at the time, but it's actually two beaches that are connected, Rexhame Beach in Marshfield (where the paking lot is located) and Humarock Beach in Scituate. We only walked about half the beach, but still walked over two miles (out and back). We came out here because there was much less smoke in the air here, then places closer to home. That said, it was still a little bit hazy. Keep in mind, that there is a parking fee for this beach during the season, ranging $20 to $30 during the day, depending on the day of the week. But it's only $5 any day after 5PM, which is when we went. It was a nice visit on a hot summer day! The pictures below are from Rexhame Beach in Marshfield section. Visit the Scituate page for the pictures from the Humarock Beach section.

Green Harbor Beach

Date visited: 5/3/2025

Doggie Beach Season is over. The end of March, or sometimes the end of April, is usually the time when most beaches that only allow dogs in the off-season begin the doggy prohibition. So when we have a warm day in the beginning of May like this one, our options are limited. The town beaches in Marshfield allow dogs year round, however! Of course, during the real beach season (Memorial Day through Labor Day), the limited parking here requires a beach sticker from the town. It made sense to come to this beach today, since it's after the date that most other beaches don't allow dogs, and before the date when a beach sticker is required. We had to park about a quarter mile away at a small lot at the corner of Assumption and Beach Streets, and walk to the beach. Most people congregate right around the beach entrance. That seemed to be where most of the sunbathers and swimmers were camped out. We headed south down the beach, crossing into Duxbury, and went about two miles before turning around and heading back. Mandy and Lexi stopped to cool off in the water a number of times along the way. It was a great day for a walk on the beach!

Harbor Park & Walk

Date visited: 8/19/2026

This Harbor Walk is about a mile walk along sidewalks connecting Peter Igo Park to the town dock, via Harbor Park. There is a medium size, free parking lot across the street from Harbor Park. We checked out the small park first. It features some walkways, a pavilion, benches, and a lot of flowers! We continued north on the walkway that runs along side Joseph Driebeck Way, past the water treatment facility. We didn't continue to Peter Igo Park, instead we took the spur that leads to Brant Rock Beach and Brant Rock Village, before heading to the town dock and returning to Harbor Park via the walkway. The area is dog friendly with poop bag dispensers and receptacles. Dogs must remain leashed throughout. This was a pretty nice walk on a decent August afternoon.

Brant Rock Beach & Esplanade

Date visited: 8/19/2026

This is a dog friendly beach located in Brant Rock Village. Leashed dogs are allowed year round on the beach. The beach is narrow, partly sandy and partly stony. There is one ADA compliant ramp that leads to the beach from North Street, as well as a number of staircases that provide access. At high tide, there's not much beach here, but we were here at mid-tide. Still, there was a section in the middle of the beach where the water was right up against the rocks that seperate the shore from the wall. We had to utilize the esplanade that runs along the beach wall to get from one end of the beach to the other. Parking is also an issue. Most of the parking in the area is permit only, or requires a day pass. I'm not sure what the procedure is to purchase a day pass. They weren't being sold near the beach. We actually walked here from Harbor Park, so luckily we didn't have to deal with that. This is an okay beach, and Mandy and Lexi appreciated the light waves. It's best asset is the fact that it is dog-friendly year around.
