Kennebunk

Lower Village

Date visited: 5/22/2024

This is the tourist area just west of the Kennebunk River bridge that separates Kennebunk from the Dock Square section of Kennebunkport. Like it's nearby neighbor, there are a number of small shops, inns, and restaurants. The dogs were invited inside one of the shops my wife was visiting.

Gooch's Beach

Date visited: 10/18/2025

This is a pretty decent beach, located in Kennebunk Maine. Dogs are allowed before 9AM and after 5PM from June 15th to Labor Day, and allowed any time outside of those dates. They also only need to be under voice control, and don't need to be on a leash. We started by the rocky area on the west end of the beach, and made our way to the Kennebunk River breachway on the east end. The whole thing is about a mile long. On our way back, the dogs played a bit off-leash. Lexi always loves running on the beach! It was low tide, but there were still some pretty nice waves. There was a number of surfers taking advantage of them. This beach kind of reminds me of Easton's Beach in Newport. It's sort of the same shape, tucked in a cove but with nice waves. This was a pleasant beach walk on a sunny autumn afternoon.

Kennebunk Service Plaza South

On our way home from Saco, we stopped at this rest area. I had a few moments to kill, so we took some photos. Mandy and Lexi absolutely had to take a photo with the bears!
