Our quest to find dog friendly beaches brought us to Saco, Maine. Leashed dogs are allowed year-round. They can be unleashed from October through March. I grouped these two beaches together because they are both town beaches with no real border between them. We parked at one of the two metered lots at the corner of Seaside Avenue and Bayview Road. Parking was $2/hr, and we got the last spot available when we arrived at 1PM on a Monday. This is a good beach for walking, and there's over 2 1/2 miles of beach that can be walked. Our walk actually took us to Ocean Park Beach in Old Orchard Beach to the north, and Ferry Beach to the south. Waves were mild, and it was extreme low tide for this visit. This beach was light on the amenities. There is a small bathroom building, and lifeguards near the entrance in the summer time. Of course, the real amenity is that you can bring your dog in the summer time!

This is the beach area south of Bayview Beach. It is part of Ferry Beach State Park. We walked here as part of our Bayview Beach walk. There is a rock wall at the southern end. Since it was low tide, we actually could have gone around the wall and reached Camp Ellis beach, but it was a long walk already so we didn't do that. There is a pedestrian walk way on the other side of the wall. There are some nice views looking down from the wall.

This is the historic district around Main Street. Saco isn't as touristy as some of the other beach towns in the area, so there wasn't much to this walk. We stopped for a bite at Rapid Ray's, a reasonably priced food stand, and for desert at The Saco Scoop. We got some very cute photos of Mandy and Lexi as they were waiting for their hot dog!
