This was a very fun hike! The site is managed by East Quabbin Land Trust, and is on a working farm. We didn't see any farm animals, or any other signs that the farm was active on our visit. The trail is half open fields, and half woods. I liked the open fields section the best. There are some great scenic views here, which can be seen from the observation platform. The wooded section was less interesting, but still a nice hike that mazed through some rocky areas with stone walls. This was well worth the trip!

This was our second trip to Hardwick in 10 days, after never visiting the town before this month. This time we walked a stand alone segment of the Mass Central Rail Trail that weaves in and out of Hardwick and New Braintree. It is not connected to the rest of the trail on either end. The Ware River serves as the border of the two twons, and there are two bridge crossings. The south-west part of the trail was pretty boring, but the other section that passes by the "Salvage Art Wall" is pretty nice.
