We parked here to access the Hudson River Waterfront Walk. Signs indicate dogs are not allowed on the field, and to use the perimeter paths to access the Waterfront Walk with dogs. I'm not sure what the signs meant by "field". I'm thinking they are referring to the athletic fields that comprise most of this park. At any rate, it's a convenient place to park to access the Waterfront.

This is a walking path along the west side of the Hudson River in New Jersey. We've walked parts of the path in Jersey City and Hoboken previously. The views of Manhattan aren't as interesting in this section, but the trail still offers some nice looks, and is much easier to access than the other sections. It passes between the river and the businesses and condo complexes on River Road. Plenty of free parking can be found at various strip malls along the road. We started at Veterans Field and walked down to the current southern end of the trail in the town at City Place. There are a few gaps where it is necessary to walk through strip mall parking lots or the sidewalk along River Road. This was a long walk for us. With the zig-zagging around the trail does along the shoreline, it runs about four miles. We took a shortcut on the way back and just followed the sidewalk on River Road for part of the way, so it was only three miles back, but it was still a seven mile walk! Fortunately the weather was on the cooler side, and this was a very pleasant adventure.

This outdoor shopping area is at the south end of the Hudson River Waterfront Walk in Edgewater. We passed through briefly as we were turning around while walking the Waterfront trail.
