It was exactly a year and a day since we last walked a section of this trail in LaGrange and Poughkeepsie. The trail runs from Hopewell Junction to the Walkway Over The Hudson in Poughkeepsie. We started at the spot where the Dutchess Rail Trail meets the Maybrook Trailway, and headed west, walking about two and a half miles until the next large parking area. Very near the west end, the trail passes through Hopewell Depot Museum, which is closed in the winter, but still made a good spot for pictures. The trail continues west through the woods and passes Lake Walton. There was a fair amount of traffic on the trail, even on a Tuesday afternoon in the winter. This was a nice and easy walk on a brisk and sunny afternoon.
