Dartmouth

Demarest Lloyd State Park

Date visited: 3/6/2023

I had been planning to take the dogs here for some time, but was waiting for a favorable weather day. I wound up taking a Monday off, and heading out first thing in the morning. Dogs are allowed here between September 16 and March 31st. When we arrived, the gate was closed, so we had to park at the gate and walk about a half mile down the park road before we hit the beach. The beach is a "natural" beach, so it's filled with rocks, shells and sea-weed. In addition to the beach, there are a few trails and a couple of different picnic areas. Unfortunately, we couldn't explore the trails all that much because many of them were completely flooded. That didn't matter, the beach was pretty nice and we wound up wandering around the park for over four miles. We pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. We only encountered one couple taking their dog for a walk the whole time we were here. I guess it's not that popular of a place on a Monday morning in March.

Round Hill Beach

Date visited: 2/21/2025

This is a town beach available only to Dartmouth residents during beach season. Signs say pets aren't allowed, but the town's website indicates that dogs aren't allowed from June through Labor Day. It's tucked in a cove, so waves are mild. Reviews on Google were positive about this beach, but I felt it was just okay. We wound up walking 1.75 miles here.
