Woodlawn Trail

Date visited: 1/30/2021

This was the first time I attempted a sub-freezing hike with the dogs. The trail, beautiful in the snow, was challenging and that kept the adreneline flowing. I started not minding the cold when going for the hikes, and I think Mandy prefers 20 degree weather to 80 degree any time! The dogs were also sporting their matching sweaters for the first time.

Dennis Pond

Date visited: 8/25/2021

This place is very beautiful, and with a lush pine forest, I bet it looks gorgeous in the winter time. It looked pretty nice on a hot, humid summer early evening. The trail that we hiked is named "Beaver Trail Loop" in the All-Trails app, but I didn't see any signs indicating the name of the trail while I was there. The loop doesn't circle the pond, but runs along side the east side of the pond and up a hill. We climbed up the side of the loop that was less steep, and down the side of the loop that was quite steep. It was only a few days after Tropical Storm Henri made it's way through, so the trail was wet in places. There are some neat stream crossings over logs and small little wooden bridges. The part of the loop that runs alongside the pond was wetter, but we still didn't have any issues navigating it. The trail is only about a mile long, but that was plenty on a warm late summer evening before sunset.

Downtown Stafford Springs

Date visited: 1/19/2022

Stafford Springs is the center of the town of Stafford. With temps up into the mid-40's, and melting snow we decided on a "city walk" versus a muddy trail today. We walked around Hyde Park, and then up and down Main Street. The small area that still had Christmas decorations up is called the "Main Street Fruit Tree Trail."
