This is Connecticut's only State Industrial Monument. The Beckley Furnace was used in the 19th century for iron manufacturing. The main structure still stands. There are some exhibits of some of the restored turbines, as well as the waterfall that was built to power the plant. In the 21st century, these things serve mainly as photo backdrops. The small park has a picnic area, and is also a popular fishing spot. There is a trail-head here as well, but the hike goes straight up a mountain, so we stuck manily to the pictures around the monument.

This is the trail leading to Campbell Falls, a very large, beautiful waterfall. Of course, the actual waterfall is just over the border, in New Marlborough, MA. So you will have to look at that page to see the actual waterfall. This is just a picture taken on the trail leading up to the waterfall. I didn't realize that this portion of the trail veered into North Canaan, until I recently looked at the GPS coordinates on the photo. Most of the Connecticut portion of the park is in Norfolk.
