This trail is on North Branford Land Trust property. This trail used to be the path of the Shoreline Electric Trolley, an old electric trolley that ran from East Haven to the Guilford Town Green. According to the North Branford Trust website, on August 13, 1917 two trolleys collided head on causing 28 deaths. Today, the trail connects hiking trails in Guilford and North Branford. We were actually hiking the Kampmeyer Trail in Guilford, which connects to this trail. We took a detour to add more steps. The fall foliage was incredible here, but unfortunately parts of the trail were completely flooded, so we didn't explore as much as I wanted to. As a matter of fact, I had to pick up the dogs and carry them over some of the really bad parts.

The place we visited in North Branford is called North Farms Park. Like so many of the places we frequent, it is a park with playgrounds and athletic fields with some trails in the back. We hiked some of the trails. There's a brook that runs through the woods, but there is only one bridge that connects the sets of trails on either side of the river. That means exploring all the trails requires a good deal of back-tracking.
