We've driven by this place a bunch of times, and finally decided to check it out. The property, owned by the Town of Killingworth, is used for recreation and special events these days, and seems to be less of an actual farm. The grounds are kept immaculate. The "farm" area in the front of the property is very picturesque. There are a number of trails on the property that go into the woods. They're all well marked and maintained. We hiked a three mile loop that incorporated a number of named trails, but we were mostly on the white blazed Bosco Trail. It was a very pleasant adventure on a beautiful late afternoon.

I have no idea what a "Shot Pouch" trail is...but that's what was on the sign. The trail sits on 28 acres owned by the Killingworth Land Conservation Trust. The trail connects Roast Meat Hill Road to Ironworks Road. I love the name "Roast Meat Hill Road". Mandy and Lexi like the name too, well they like Roast Meat anyway! One of my favorite all time street names, that and "Bread And Milk Road" in Vernon near the Belding Wildlife Management Area. Anyway, we tried to park at the Roast Meat Hill Road trailhead, but the trail, which runs right along side someone's driveway, was all overgrown there, so we parked on the Ironworks side. The parking is bad here. There's a spot for one car. This was such a gray, gloomy and damp day, we surely did not have to compete for the parking spot! The trail itself is actually pretty nice, except for the junked car about a quarter way in. We hiked nearly to the end at Roast Meat Hill Rd (I just love saying "Roast Meat Hill Road"). There's also a side trail that was unblazed that loops around for some extra steps. There was one stream crossing that flooded out the trail, so we had to be creative getting around it, but we were able to traverse it without getting too muddy.
