Not far from the state park, is the Quinebaug River Trail, a paved bike trail that runs between Route 12 and the Quinebaug River in the Danielson section of Killingly. The northern part runs alongside the main road for a short period of time, passes a water treatment facility, and heads into the woods after that. It is all quite scenic, especially in the fall. There are some short side trails that lead to the river. We covered the whole trail in both directions, and walked six miles total.

Here we have Cat Hollow Park, located on Dog Hollow Road! Cats and dogs aside, this is a pretty nice place. First we walked the park road that is closed to traffic, and then we headed for the loop trail. The trail goes over the Whetstone Brook Bridge before approaching the very large man-made dam and waterfall. The waterfall is the highlight for sure. There are also ruins of an old mill. The only issue is that I lost the trail at the point it was supposed to loop back into the woods. The trail is not blazed, and even with the All Trails GPS map on my phone, I wasn't able to find the right way to go. We wound up heading back the way we came.

This is a typical town park in the Dayville section of Killingly. It features a pond, athletic fields and playgrounds. There is a trail that sort of loops around all the fields and the pond. It's a nice, easy walk. It's not worth making a destination out of it, but it's a good place to take your dogs for a walk if you're in the area.
