Bull Pond Preserve

It was quite windy when we went here. If Lexi was any smaller, she may have blown away. We walked a portion of the trail around the pond. There are some very narrow wooden bridges near the shore. I didn't see it happen, but I turned around to find Lexi in the pond. She either fell off the narrow bridge, or decided to just go in herself. I'm not really sure.

The highlight of the trail is the long wooden staircase and bridge at the start of the trail. Once down the stairs, the trail quickly splits into two paths, the white blazed spur trail that goes out to Rt. 4, and the yellow blazed loop that runs through the woods behind people's backyards. Since leaves haven't fully blossomed yet, at one point on the loop portion, you get a good view of a giant mansion and it's expansive backyard. The well marked and maintained trails made for a pleasant walk, but the trail itself wasn't all that interesting.

Forever Forest

The Harwinton Land Trust sure packed a lot into this mile long loop trail. There are a number of different and interesting landscapes. Like the other Harwinton Land Trust properties, this one is well marked and maintained. In fact, they are actively building a new bridge at the far end of the trail. The small wooden cat statue was on the bench at the scenic marsh overlook. I made sure to put it back on the bench where I found it after I took the pictures with the dogs.
