Sunny Valley Preserve - Lillinonah Trail

Date visited: 5/1/2021

We did it! This was our last town in our effort to visit every town in Connecticut. I had a tough time picking out a place in Bridgewater. I was looking for a hike that was relatively short, as this was one of four towns we would be visting that day. This trail was a little more strenuous than the ones we normally tackle. Since the weather was nice, and the temperaure was a cool, we went for it. The climb was generally at the beginning of the loop. We followed the yellow blazes first, and then the blue bazes on the return trip. The return trip was right down by the Housatoinic River. Some spots of that part of the trail are rocky, with a sharp drop-off into the river if you slip. Luckily we didn't slip! My alternative stop was just going to be taking photos at Bridgewater Boat Launch, so I'm glad I did this trail instead! It is good to end a project like this with a sense of accomplishment.

I decided to stop here and check out this place on our way to somewhere else. It's a nice little town park, with a paved walking trail. The dog park looked cool, but we didn't check it out because of the sign saying it was for Bridgewater residents only. In fact, I later saw a sign that indicated the entire park was only for Bridgewater residents. I guess the town does not like outsiders!
