This is a really scenic ocean facing town beach in Truro. Dogs are allowed from the day after Labor Day until the third Friday in June at any time, and before 9AM and after 6PM the rest of the year. It wasn't the best beach day. The temperature was okay, mid 60's. Good for walking on the beach, but it was very windy. The beach also had a steep slope, so walking near the water was tough on the ankles. We actually only wound up walking a little over a mile here, but the scenery was gorgeous.

This was a much better day at the beach than our last trip to Truro. According to the website, leashed dogs are allowed until the 3rd Saturday in June, but sings at the beach indicated the 2nd Saturday. Either way, we were fine! We walked north two miles on the beach, before heading back. Most of the shoreline is actually part of the Cape Cod National Shoreline. Dogs are generally allowed, but sections will be closed off to pets where there are nesting birds. We initially were going to go to Head Of The Meadow beach, but most of that beach was closed to pets, so we came here. This is a beautiful beach, and we saw seals swimming in the water off-shore. Just be aware, the path to the beach is down a steep, sandy hill along the dunes. We actually wound up going up and down twice because I realized I left a poop bag on the beach and I wanted to go back and get it! On our way up the 2nd time, we were visited by a golden retriever who found a large stick, and was very happy about it!

This is a touristy area of town that includes a museum, a gift shop, a golf course, and the oldest lighthouse on Cape Cod. The lighthouse was moved back 450 feet from it's original position in 1996 because of erosion. There is a stone monument and an observation platform at it's original location. There is also wigwam that was fun to explore as well.

We wrapped up our post Labor Day "Beach Week", by heading to this beautiful beach on the Cape! The weather was calling for sunny skies beginning at 11AM, but the forecast kept changing, with it getting cloudier as the day progressed. It was actually overcast when we crossed the Cape Cod Canal on the way here, but it fortunately cleared up nicely as soon as we arrived in Truro. We had a beautiful afternoon. There are actually two separate beaches here, the town maintained area where dogs are allowed only after Labor Day, and the Cape Cod National Shoreline area where dogs are allowed outside of guarded areas year round, unless there are nesting birds. I wanted to visit here in the summer, but it was closed to dogs because of the birds. I double checked before we left, and the dog restriction was lifted. We immediately witnessed a seal popping his head up just off-shore. There are a couple photos of the dogs below where you can see a seal in the water too! We headed north along the shore and once we were away from the beach entrances, we had the whole shore practically to ourselves. We walked about four miles here, enjoying this wonderful day on a gorgeous beach!
