Shelburne Falls is a village located in the towns of Shelburne and Buckland. The Deerfield River separates the towns. Shelburne Falls is also known as "Iron Lake, NY" in the TV show "Dexter: New Blood". Much of the show is actually shot in Shelburne Falls. The buildings are re-dressed in the show, to have Iron Lake names. I watched Dexter during it's original run, and am a fan of the new series. Nine of the ten episodes have aired as of this writing, and I've been enjoying the show very much. I just hope they don't screw up the ending! I have descriptions of the some of the locations below.
"Fred's Fish and Game" where Dexter works in the show is really a store called Bridge Street Bazaar.
Some more shots from Bridge Street. When we came back to visit the Bridge of Flowers in the summer, we stopped and took another picture here.
The Truss Bridge between the Shelburne and Buckland sections of the village is seen prominently in the show.
On the Buckland side of the village, is Buckland Pizza, and the Buckland Town Hall. The Town Hall sits in for the Iron Lake Police Headquarters where Police Chief Angela Bishop works in the show.
The "Iron Lake Tavern" is really called the West End Pub. It also figures prominently in the show.
Back on the Shelburne side, are the actual falls. Strangely enough, the falls are actually named "Salmon Falls". The waterfall can be seen in the opening areal shot of the series finale. We also visited the Tantiusques Reservation in Sturbridge, which was the site of the "Clarke Caves" that can be seen in episodes 3 and 6. In the spring, we visited Whately Diner in Whately, that was used for the Caldwell Diner & Truck Stop in the show.
