This is a fantastic park with many different sections. Most of the park is dog friendly except the pool and the playgrounds! There's plenty of free parking here. We were here on a sunny Saturday afternoon and there was still plenty of spots left. We started our tour of the park around the Everhart Museum. There is a nice fountain in front of the museum, along with various sculptures. The next part of the park we visited features an old coal mine. The mine is open to the public on Saturday's, and we were able to go inside the mine and take some photos. We eventually made our way to the trails and the tree house. There is a bridge that leads to the tree house with great views of the gorge below. We headed down the trail next, to some observation platforms overlooking a wonderful waterfall. There are signs indicating that the area beyond that is off-limit to the public, but there were numerous people mulling around the waterfall, and some kids were even jumping off the rocks into the water below! From there, we made our way to the covered bridge, and found a spot where Mandy and Lexi could get in the water a bit. After that, we headed back to the main portion of the park. Mandy and Lexi actually crashed a family reunion that was occurring. (Actually, the family saw my camera and asked me to take their group photo). The dogs got a lot of attention from the large family! The last section of the park we visited was the very picturesque flower garden. This was a fun trip, and worth the 3+ hour drive. This park was like five different places in one. It was a great way to spend a wonderful Saturday afternoon.
