We came here because this was the closest place where the sun was out. It was one of the longest days of the year, so I had time to drive an hour and a half away after work. Between the clouds, haze and smoke in the sky, it had been almost three weeks since I've seen a sky this blue. When we arrived, I was surprised that there was a concert going on. I mean, it was a Tuesday night after all! The band's name was Rocky and the Moosemen. They were selling hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage and pizza I think. It was quite an event. Anyway, there are trails here too, and they were pretty nice. We hiked a loop around the park. Part of the trail through the meadow was mowed, and the other part went through the woods. The walk was about a mile and a half total. It was a fun evening walk.

We walked through the village, which is basically up and down Main Street. There's only a few shops here, and I don't think anything was actually open. It seemed like a ghost town. I think the main issue is the waterfront is cut off from the village by the train tracks. It keeps this village from being as nice as some of the other small towns along the Hudson. There's a small park area with nice views of the Hudson, but no access. We wound up driving up the road afterward and finding somewhere else to go to get some additional steps.

There's a nice nature preserve with a well maintained trail through the woods. The highlight is the spur that goes out to a small beach area along the Hudson. The water looked pretty clear here, and Mandy and Lexi enjoyed the opportunity to cool off. We hike a loop trail that was just under a mile. A small part of the trail crossed over into East Greenbush. It wasn't a bad walk, but other than the waterfront, it was a pretty basic trail and not all that special.
