Greenbriar Recreation Area

Date visited: 1/6/2024

This is a recreation complex near the Hodges Village Dam maintained by the Army Corps of Engineers. The site actually used to be a neighborhood in the 1950's. Storms flooded the neighborhood in 1955, and they built a dam in 1957. 112 houses were actually moved to accommodate the dam. This area connects to a larger network of trails that span 22 miles, but we could only hike about a mile total here. Tthe trails on either side of the Wellington Pond were flooded and impassable.
