The trail head for this trail is at the end of Marion Avenue, but there is no parking there. Instead, you can park at the Brayton Elementary School where there is a sort of a "pre-trail" path that leads to Pershing Street. From there it's a short walk along Pershing Street and Marion Avenue to "real" trail-head. Alternatively, you can park at the YMCA, but I'm not sure where that is in relation to the trail. At any rate, the trail started out nice. It runs along side Notch Brook, crossing it a couple times on sturdy bridges. About two thirds of the way through, things get dicey. A section of the trail is completely washed out, and it is necessary to walk through the brook to continue. Mandy and Lexi certainly don't mind walking through the water on a hot day, so we continued on. The last part of the trail gets rough. The terrain becomes difficult, and muddy until you reach the waterfall. Getting close to the waterfall requires some effort. It's necessary to cross a pool of water, but it was deeper than Mandy and Lexi like. We got as close as we could, but the pups wouldn't go any further. While most of the 1.2 mile trail is easy, the end of it was a real challenge. I was disappointed we didn't get any closer to the waterfall, which was actually pretty impressive.
