We started and ended our five mile adventure in Newark at this park. You might ask, why Newark on such a nice day? I was here three years prior at the same time of year, and noticed how nice some of the parks looked with the spring blooms. I thought at the time that it would be a nice place to take the dogs. So, it took three years, but we finally made it here. This park was a nice starting point. For one, when we arrived the free parking lot was nearly empty at 1PM on a sunny Saturday. The park features a paved walkway along the Passaic River, as well as grassy areas, playgrounds, and athletic fields. From here, we headed into Downtown Newark, and had a nice walk through the city and some other parks, before returning here to end our walk, and noticing that the parking lot was now completely full!

This section includes random photos from our walk through Downtown Newark that don't fit into the other sections. We also visited Riverfront Park, as well as New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Military Park, Mulberry Commons, and Riverbank Park.

This was one of our stops on our walk through Downtown Newark. I had visited NJPAC three years prior, when I went to see a Jon Anderson (former lead singer of Yes) concert. It was the same time of year, and I remember noticing how nice the area around the venue looked with the spring blooms. I thought at the time that it would be a nice place to take the dogs, so I made sure to stop here on this trip. There's a nice garden and picnic area in front of the venue, and we stopped for a water break here, before heading across the street to Military Park.

This is a park area in Downtown Newark across the street from the Prudential Center. Included here are a couple photos from in front of the venue, notably the hockey player statue and the Prudential Rock. The park across the street has grassy areas, benches and a playground, and features a nice view of the city skyline.

This was the final stop on our walk through Downtown Newark. We had started and ended our walk across the street at Newark Riverfront Park, and this was the last park we visited before calling it a day. It was a great five and a half mile walk through the city, and we were surprised by how many nice parks there were in the downtown area.
