Yes, the actual name of the town is "Manchester-by-the-Sea". Up until 1989, the town was simply known as "Manchester". I guess the name was changed to avoid confusion with other Manchester's that are not by the sea. This beach is the highlight of the town. It is called "Singing Beach" because the sand makes a "singing" noised when walked upon. I can attest, that it does make a noise! The beach is beautiful. During the off-season, from October 15 to April 15, dogs are allowed on the beach...and non-residents are allowed to park in the lot. Not only are dogs allowed, they are allowed to be off-leash as well. The entire half-mile wide beach is pretty much a dog park in the off-season! Mandy and Lexi always love when they get to run freely on the beach. It was a cool and windy day, but there were plenty of people with their dogs on a Friday afternoon. There is also a short trail behind the sandy section of the beach that features some scenic views of the beach. This is a great place to take the pups in the off-season!

This is a small park with a stone dust walking trail, just up the road from Singing Beach. The park is next to a private marina, and features a playground, a baseball field, a gazebo, and a many benches.

After walking the short loop trail at Masconomo Park, we walked around the town for a bit. This town really does have that quaint New England feel to it.
