Since we were already in nearby Glen Falls, it was a short trip from there to Lake George, so I thought we'd check it out. The village is the main tourist area at Lake George. There are lots of little shops here, as well as a couple of parks, and a marina. The village covers the southern end of the lake, and offers numerous, scenic photo opportunities. Across the street is Fort William Henry, and Lake George Battlefield State Park. Since we had already walked three miles before arriving here, those places will have to wait for another trip. We walked along Canada Street and Beach Road, as well as the marina area along the lake's shore. The dogs enjoyed Lake George Dog Beach, which is accessed from here as well. We walked a bit over two miles here total.

There are two beach areas along the southern shore of Lake George. This one, and the main one called "Million Dollar Beach". We were in Lake George with no advance preparation, so I didn't know if dogs were allowed here or not. I saw a number of people on the smaller beach with dogs, so we went for it. As it turns out, the smaller beach is actually called "Lake George Dog Beach". It seemed very busy, but most people using it didn't actually have dogs! While apparently dogs are allowed to be off-leash here, there were too many people on the small beach for that. I also think it's too close to a busy road without a barrier to let them run free, so I kept them on a leash. I'm not sure why this beach is so busy with people when Million Dollar Beach is just next door. I read some reviews on that beach (dogs aren't allowed on Million Dollar Beach), and I guess the lifeguards are strict as to where you can swim, and the dog beach has no lifeguards. Either that, or maybe people just like hanging with the pups!
