Hackensack River Pathway

Date visited: 9/1/2025

It was Labor Day, and the original forecast called for a continuation of the great weather we were enjoying, but it turned out to be overcast through most of the northeast. We came down here, because it was our best chance at getting some sun, which we did! This is a short paved multi-use trail that starts at Johnson Park, runs along side some offices and through the Hackensack portion of Fairleigh Dickinson University. There's a footbridge that leads to the rest of the campus, on the other side of the Hackensack River in Teaneck. The trail is okay, and there are a couple spots with river access. The river looked pretty dirty to me, so Mandy and Lexi did not go in the water at all. Along with our walk through the campus on the Teaneck side, we walked 4.5 mile here.

Johnson Park

We parked here for our walk on the Hackensack River Pathway. After completing our walk, we explored the small park. It's mostly open grassy areas with athletic fields, and a couple fishing spots near the river.
