This is a beautiful area. The forest is primarily pine trees, so there is still a lot of green, even in the winter. There is a well maintained two mile trail around Sunset Lake. This portion of the state forest is also known as Barton State Park, sort of a park within a park. The only issue was with the All-Trails route we followed. It actually had us head down someone's driveway, right before the section that briefly runs along side the road. There didn't seem to be a way to avoid it if trying to loop the lake. We passed through quickly and quietly! As for the rest of the trail, it's an easy path around the lake, and also features ruins of old foundations as well. This was a very enjoyable hike!
