We visited this place right after Nasketucket Bay State Reservation in Mattapoisett. I didn't think it would be as nice as Nasketucket, but it was. Maybe even better. Like Nasketucket, there is a wide trail that leads to a very scenic rocky shoreline. The loop trail we hiked incorporates the rocky shoreline. There is a nice sandy beach in the middle of the loop, before curving back inland through a marshy area. Dogs appear to be allowed here, at least unofficially. The website doesn't mention dogs at all, and there are no signs or anything saying that they are not allowed. There is no parking lot here, you have to park on the street by the trail head. There were a few cars lined up on the street, but still plenty of parking available when we arrived. This place is definitely worth the trip.

Here is yet another old military fort turned state park. This one features the fort exhibit, picnic areas, a short walking trail through the woods, and of course a beach. There's also a hurricane wall with a short paved walking trail outside the state park, and an attached town park with volleyball and tennis courts. Dogs are always allowed at the park, but are only allowed on the beach from September 16th to April 30th. There's a couple good sized parking lots, and parking is free. The beach isn't as nice as some of the others in the area we've visited, but it serves it's purpose. We walked about three miles total here.
