This is a great state park that consists of a barrier island with a beach on the ocean side and a bay on the other. The park allows dogs year round, outside of the main swimming areas and one of the trails. There is ten miles of shoreline so there is plenty of space that the dogs can explore. We walked a 2.5 mile stretch of beach south of the bathing area, so out and back it was five miles total. This portion also includes a popular section for off road vehicles. There were signs saying the food court was open, but all I saw open was a bar outside the main parking area. It was a very warm day inland, with temps approaching 90, but it was a refreshing lower 70's along the shore, and made for a very nice walk along the beach.
