This is a great, small dog friendly beach. This was a family outing we planned, based on a sunny forecast, but we did not know that there was going to be more hazy smoke from wildfires. That seems to be the story of the summer, when it's not raining, it's smokey. We used this beach as a starting, and ending point for our walk on the Hendy Hudson Trail. This beach isn't that busy, despite being very nice and free. They also have a building with very clean real restrooms (not porta-potties), running water for water fountains and feet washes, and even a separate dog park (not on the beach). It's actually a great place to bring your dog!

This is one of the nicer stretches of bike trail that we ever walked. This stretch of the trail is also known as the "Bayshore Trail." It's a two mile stretch that connects Popamora Point Beach to the Atlantic Highlands Yacht Harbor. Normally, I wouldn't go on a bike trail with the dogs on such a hot and humid day, but the dogs were able to cool off at beaches on either end of the trail, so they were in no danger of over-heating. The trail runs right along the shoreline, and on clear days you can see the New York City skyline. There was too much haze and smoke in the air for us to see it, but you could just barely see the bridge way off in the distance.

This is mainly a boat harbor. We arrived here via the Henry Hudson Trail. In addition to the harbor filled with yachts, there's also a gazebo/stage where it looks like they can have small shows, as well as tennis courts and and the Shore Casino. The highlight is the truly secret beach here. It's accessed from the end of bike trail through a small opening in the large brush on one side of the trail. There are nice views of the bay from this spot, and it provided the dogs with another spot they could cool off on a hot, hazy and muggy day.
