What a fantastic day! This would have been a great day if it was in April, but it was an absolutely wonderful day in late February. There were temperature records set all over the state. It was in the upper 60's here, and it felt like spring. There was a mix of clouds and sun all day, but by the time we got here, it was all sun! This is a nice town park and beach. We walked a walkway that runs along the beach, and another that runs along side a nearby marina. It was a great way to cap off a wonderful day. Of course, this is New England, and the forecast calls for a snow storm two days later!

If I had known about how nice this place is, I would have come on a better day. It had been foggy and rainy all day, but it started to clear in this part of the state around 5PM. I looked for a trail in the All-Trails app around here, and found this one. The trail through the woods was pretty nice. We walked the mile and a half loop outlined in the All-Trails app. There's one section with a long boardwalk over wetlands. It would have been awful if one of us had slipped and fell into the water. But the trail is really only half the story here. On the opposite side of the property is the actual arboretum and garden. We are at the time of the year where things are starting to bloom, so it was quite nice. We spent quite a bit of time exploring this area, as well some of the other trails on the property. We wound up covering three miles total here. We took quite a few photos. The best part about this place is it is completely dog friendly as well! It was well worth the trip.

Due to the weather, we hadn't been able to get out for a "real adventure" in a while. Yes, walked around some shopping areas lately, and also the lame bus trail in Newington, but it was good to get back out and explore some interesting places again. This is a nice park on a beach in Stamford. There are walking trails and beach areas, as well as a boat dock. We walked for about two miles total.

This is a fun set of trails located on the border of Greenwich and Stamford. There are actually two parks here, Mianus River Park and Mianus River State Park, but I'm not sure exactly where one ends and the other begins. There is a maze of trails here, we hiked a two mile loop. It was a crazy warm day for February, as we were up near 70 degrees. This definitely felt like a spring hike.

This was part one of our Stamford adventure on a chilly Sunday afternoon. We parked at this park, which features athletic fields, tennis courts, and playgrounds. There is also a paved half mile walking trail that circles the park. We walked about half of the loop trail, and then took the Mill River Greenway that connects to Mill River Park and part two of our adventure. On our way back, we walked the remainder of the loop trail.

This was part two of our Stamford adventure. The Mill River Greenway is a short, paved path that connects Scalzi Park to Mill River Park. A short segment of the greenway is along a side street, but there is a sidewalk for pedestrians. The park is a nice area with more paved walking trails. There is an indoor carousel here, as well as an outdoor ice skating rink in the winter. After exploring the park, we headed to the downtown area, and part three of our adventure.

After visiting Scalzi Park and Mill River Park, we headed to the downtown area. There are a number of small parks along the way, most with benches, sculptures and monuments. The sculpture of the lady painting with the man and dog is a very impressive piece of modern art. The plaza across from the old Town Hall is known as Veterans Park, and features a number of different monuments. Mandy and Lexi were good sports posing with the STAM FORD! sign (Yes, that's STAM FORD with an exclamation mark)! The downtown park areas in this city are very nice, and even have poop bag dispensers and trash cans for the dog walkers. We concluded our adventure by heading back to Scalzi Park, walking four miles total on the day.
